It appears that Google UK sms service is no more...

I was really suprised to see that had kind of stopped this service.

David, its much more then that.. "beta" is relevant in terms of service tag.
SMS was is an aritfact within search . This is of vital importance for moble technologies.. My trackpoints indicate that their research in JP appears to be pretty fruitfull., so this comes as a 360 trun for SMS based on what I understand on SMS

I would guess that it would have been pulled perhaps due to lack of usage? I think the mobile web is the future for this kind of thing. I am not saying that SMS could not be useful on top of that though, it could. But Google is continually improving its mobile offering (News, IG, Reader...) so it is clearly an important avenue for them. I am confident that SMS will be relaunched (probably as silently as it dissapeared).

Yeah yuo're right Sam not working for me now either. It was a couple of days ago though. I liked this service becuase it was acutally quicker than connecting to the web on my phone. I hope you're right, and it will be relaunched. |
