With furl you can save the page and not only bookmark it like with del.icio.us I think this is a beter function Why furl is not popular? |
Because they are not integrated in de yahoo toolbar ;-) |
It's powered by LookSmart that never really did anything successful. Ugly design. del.icio.us is better. Yahoo's MyWeb 2.0 also saves a copy of the page and it's not very popular. |
alex, do you have to instal a toolbar for yahoo?. can you export your files like with furl? thanks |
No need for toolbar.
You can export the bookmarks.
http://myweb.yahoo.com/myweb/tools |
thanks I thought it only saved search results
it exports the bookmaks, but not the saved pages, that is a limit |
In what format would you like to export saved pages?
Maybe Google Notebook (http://google.com/notebook) is a better way to do it... |
html as it is
google is too slow for my resources.
I prefer Opera notes |
Google Notes System requirements: Windows XP Internet Explorer 6 (Firefox version available here)
I use win98 and mostly opera 8.54
I need simple utilities for my old system. |
Spurl.net also archives bookmarked pages. And you can have Spurl automatically add anything you bookmark to your del.icio.us account. So you get Spurl's archive, del.icio.us's generally superior interface and functionality, and an automatic back-up of bookmarks for whenever the other site goes down. |
thanks checkerhead I have to check if spurl has a backup or export feature I do like and use delicious but I think it is nonsense to save only urls for important documents, urls will change |
also, there was a service that you register and then can bookmark to multiple services 8except citeulike) but I forgot the name :-( |
not yet, spurl FAQ:
More export options will be available soon, allowing you to download all the information stored with your spurls, including the copy of the page. |
Furl trounces Google Notebook overall and actually has a cleaner user interface than Del. Most people don't know the NYTines uses a white label Furl for use in their TimesSelect premium product and by all indications it's a hit. It does look like LookSmart is a little confused on how to get more large publishers to adopt a button on site. I'm seeing Del. more often on larger sites like MarketWatch and ironicly NYT property Boston dot com.
For my saving purposes I prefer Furl to any of the dozens of social bookmarking toos out there. |
