I hope they fixed the find-in-textarea bug and the can't-paste-when-other-window-has-selection-focus bug :)

I thought it was already released? I'm using Firefox 2.0b1 at home?!

Find-in-textarea? Not fixed. I'm using Firefox 2.0 Alpha 3.

can't-paste-when-other-window-has-selection-focus? I can't test that.

I like the spell-check feature that is included in Firefox 2.0b1

Yeah, Firefox 2.0b1 RC – http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/bonecho-beta1-candidates/rc1/

I am using the RC, and the find in text area IS working. As I recall you couldn't search in textareas at all in previous versions, well now you can. I assume that is what you mean by "fixed".

The best way I can describe it (and it happens dozens of times everyday, and it's really frustrating):
- use Firefox, with windows, not tabs
- select something, copy it with a keyboard shortcut, like a URL, can be in Firefox or another application like Netpadd
- open a new Firefox browser window
- now not only you can't paste the URL you copied, you can also not use several keys, like backspace and so on in input fields. Totally broken, until you unselect the other window and click anywhere in an empty space within it.

Tested it.
Test failed.
Bug detected.

By the way, I can't always reproduce it. It's one of those bugs that just shows its ugly face when you least expect it :)

How many of your extensions are capable for Firefox 2?

Ionut Alex. Chitu [PersonRank 10]

All (except DOM Inspector).

There's a small hack. Add this entry
app.extensions.version = 1.5
as a string in about:config.

As far as I can work out after using it a bit. The killer things in this release are:

-- Undo close tab
-- Close buttons on tabs
-- Better feed reading (can default to Bloglines/Google etc)
-- Spell check
-- Google suggest built in
-- Some phishing thing I think

I think the most useful features are inline spell checking and Google Suggest.

So it doesn't offer much that can't be gotten already by plugins, especially the Google Toolbar, which has Spell Check, Anti-Phishing and Google Suggest already? I realize there may be more going on under the hood, but on the surface, versions 2.0 does not seem like a big deal.

Phillip, the find in text area bug for fixed for 1.9 (Trunk)

So I'm assuming it will showcase in Firefox 3.0
