Here's a fact from "Computers vs Common Sense" I hadn't heard before: "[..] so we can achieve Sergey's goal of a general AI by 2020". Does anyone know where Sergey mentioned this timeframe?

The Cyc talk by Douglas Lenat is fascinating. I'd heard about Cyc before, but basically dismissed it as the last gasp of 80s-style logical AI. Seemed bonkers to be entering thousands of facts by hand.
Listening to the talk though, they seem to have some very impressive results. Maybe Lenat is on the right side of the visionary/madman line after all. |
