Did anyone else notice that Google suggest puts keyboard focus on the search form, and that this is a problem if you have it as start page.. Because if you load up firefox and start typing an url (in url bar) then suddenly your keyboard changes focus to the search form, and that's highly annoying!

Interesting. I also use Firefox. As a workaround, you may want to press Ctrl+L to get back to the URL bar...
