Why did the index number stop? I thought it was cool seeing Google jump from 3 billion to 8 billion in a few months... why stop there?
Perhaps it wouldn't fit on the screen.
...Or was it because Yahoo boasted they had a bigger search index?
It's not the size that counts <!-- finish cliche --> |
I think Google made a statement that it's more about relevancy than index size. Of course, this statement coincided with Yahoo starting to boast about *their* index size... :) |
Whatever. whatever...it still sucks.. my pr just went from a 6 to a 5!! :(- |
This one still shows a 6 in my FF Google Toolbar: http://peterdawson.typepad.com/ |
PD – your blog is showing PR6 on IE with Toolbar installed for me. |
Oh thats interesting.. I never thought of changin Browsers!! |
kewl..yes.!!
Why did IE6 show a different PR ?? |
It's 6 on my Firefox, as well as on http://livepr.raketforskning.com/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fpeterdawson.typepad.com I remember it was 5 the day Google update their PR. |
/pd: Note, that PR depends of Google server that you use to retrieve it.
BTW: Philipp, How can I subscribe to Forum via RSS to get notifications not only about main topics (the first post of every thread) but replies to them as well? |
> PR is dead
I disagree :) PR is a good indicator of a site's backlinks, which in turn influences result rankings all else being equal. Of course, all else isn't equal most times, so that's why sites with good information and low PageRank are found and visited as well.
And then, there's a very real value in PR for backlinks selling through text link ad sites, but that's another subject... |
> How can I subscribe to Forum via RSS to > get notifications not only about main topics (the first post > of every thread) but replies to them as well?
I'll keep this feature request in mind, maybe I can do a "send me an email alert when there's activity in this thread" one day. But handling lots of email sending has its own challenges... |
But Google updates backlinks to slow.. |
