Who uses more than 1GB in his/her Gmail account? It would be interesting to see some stats from Google. |

Ionut Alex. Chitu | 17 years ago # |
I'm using 484 MB. I was just wondering if there's a real need for a such a storage or only 0.001% use 99.999% of the space. |

I am "currently using 393 MB (14%) of my 2750 MB." I started using Gmail in July 2004. |

It's interesting to compute this: supposing gmail's storage rate remains the same like now (0.4MB/day) our usage remains the same When will we run out of space?

never? |

I have to delete a lot so, I would've passed the limit by now. That being said...
"You are currently using 1021 MB (37%) of your 2750 MB." |
Haochi | 17 years ago # |
None of us has pass the 1GB* milestone, Philipp pretty close though. (1GB = 1024 MB) |
stefan2904 | 17 years ago # |
tjo, but its a good feeling to know, that this space is available :-) |

You are currently using 26 MB (1%) of your 2750 MB. Since June of 2006.
So far the statistics are supporting my thoughts on Web Album's limit of 250mb.
A lot of folks have complained that they were not being offered the same 2 G + that they have in Gmail.
My argument is it is easy for Google to offer over 2 G for email, because a vast majority of us won't come close to using it, where it is much easier to use 250mb for photo storage, and then there is the higher bandwidth use of other people viewing photos.

stefan2904 | 17 years ago # |
yes, you are right. more space in picasawebalbums would be nice... (2,5 gb for email, but only 250mb for pictures?) |

"yes, you are right. more space in picasawebalbums would be nice... (2,5 gb for email, but only 250mb for pictures?"
That's my point. Google can offer a huge email account because most people won't use it. If they offered 2.7 G for photos, a lot of users would use it very quickly. It looks very generous to offer something few people would use, and I am suggesting Google knows most people won't actually use that amount with all the required storage and bandwidth.

I did once, went to 102% of my inbox (a Gigabyte can mean 1000 MB or 1024 MB, though I went with Google's definition) :) http://blogoscoped.com/archive/2004_05_06_index.html#108385854271685673 |

update: 788 MB (29%) (a friend just emailed me a song) |
Sohil | 17 years ago # |
96 MB (damn!). Then again I use IM more than email.
Like others have noted, It will be neat if we could allocate more space for different Google Services (Picasa Web Albums and Page Creator) and reduce space in Gmail. |
Haochi | 17 years ago # |
<<I did once, went to 102% of my inbox Okay, you win. But probably just you and this guy, nice "spamming". http://www.pcfastlane.com/joomla/content/view/57/26/ |

You are currently using 454 MB (17%) of your 2750 MB.
And my first email:
First off, welcome. And thanks for agreeing to help us test Gmail. By now you probably know the key ways in which Gmail differs from traditional webmail services. Searching instead of filing. A free gigabyte of storage. Messages displayed in context as conversations.
So what else is new?
Gmail has many other special features that will become apparent as you use your account. To help you get started, we encourage you to visit our Help Center, there you can browse frequently asked questions, read our Getting Started guide, or contact the Gmail User Support Team. You'll also find information in the Help Center on such topics as:
* Importing your contacts from Yahoo! Mail, Outlook, and others to Gmail * Using address auto-complete * Setting up filters for incoming mail * Using advanced search options
You may also have noticed some text ads or related links to the right of this message. They're placed there in the same way that ads are placed alongside Google search results and, through our AdSense program, on content pages across the web. The matching of ads to content in your Gmail messages is performed entirely by computers; never by people. Because the ads and links are matched to information that is of interest to you, we hope you'll find them relevant and useful.
We're working hard during our limited test to improve Gmail and make it the best webmail service around. Thanks for taking the plunge with us. We hope you'll enjoy Google's approach to email.
Thanks,
The Gmail Team

I'm too obsessive to let the mail there build up. Feels too messy. That would also be my major complaint with Gmail. The whol label thing means that everything guess saved in the "All Mail" folder...and even though it has zero effect on how I use it, i always feel...soo...dirrrrty. |
