Ok Lets see
Google Partners :
1. Mozilla (Default Home page and Search Engine in Firefox is Google) 2. AOL 3. Reuters 4. Real Networks 5. Adobe 6. Dell
Wow Google has covered almost all the bases. The browser, The Computer Manufacturer, The Music Service, The PDF Reader, The News Service and The old '90s Portal.
What's next ? |
(Joke about RealPlayer is currently buffering...) |
well the RealPlayer download size is about to get even bigger..... they're going to start distributing FireFox with it too http://www.revolutionportal.com/1/article/203.html |
Why does RealNetworks need to "sign a multi-year agreement with Mozilla to offer Firefox with download of RealPlayer"?
Firefox is free open-source software which RealNetworks can offer for download already. What's in this "multi-year" agreement for RealNetworks? And what's in it for the Mozilla Foundation? |
RN – Money FF – Visibility, market growth |
RN = Yep Money
FF = Visibility, More Market Share, hence More Revenues when People use Google or Yahoo to Search from the Search Box Top Right.
You gotta spend money to make money.
It's all part of the cycle. |
I love the buffering joke comment!! |
Also Real probably feel threatened by Microsoft streaming media, Firefox is a way of challenging their dominant position. |
Real Player used to include spyware, be bloated and unusable, but apporximately one year ago they undertook a radical philospohy change, and now it does not include spyware (it includes advertisements to online stores though, similar to the ones in itune or msn). The program it is faster and its interfaze is quite classy and not as much bloated.
Clearly Google noticed this and redeemed the player. This was previsible, as RealPlayer has been included along with Google Pack for some time. |
xDCDx, the ads can be disabled too.
However if you don't .................... |
Sohil, Google's Toolbar and Desktop are also delivered alongside JRE, from Sun – Toolbar is included by default, while Desktop is not – which is more significant than their inclusion in other third party software (like Irfanview, for example), but I'm not sure that it's an out and out 'partnership'.
Still, it's Java! |
Oops. Forgot all about that. Thanks Mr Bene. It was then that Google Office was speculated. |
