Sankar: i registered in Chinese and switched back to English content... but after i switched to English with my @yahoo.com.cn email it displays 1GB storage only. Guess it doesn't work.

Didn't work for me. Tried both content and addresses for China and Hong Kong (I can read Chinese) but the mailbox remained the same at 1GB.

Yep I heard about this too. Frankly it's quite useless.

fyi,
in terms of mailbox size,
Lycos Mail (that's a name from the past) now offers
3GB for free.
Also unlimited size file attachments.
Search, filters, Auto reply, etc.

Also, Walla.com, a popular Israeli site says they offer
offer 3GB of mail space for free. However, it seems that they now offer 5GB.
