You all know about Flickr one of the online photo sharing site which i use to upload all my family photos occasionally. Due to its very low upload limit of 20 mb per month i have to resize my pics in Picasa and have to upload it.

Lastweek i scanned new sets of our Goa tour photos and tried to upload all of them but unforunately i could only upload 3/4 of them. The upload limit is over and it requests me to upgrade for a pro account. Still 7 photos are remaining and i never thought that my uploading limit would complete this quick. So for an alternative back-up i uploaded all my photos in Picasa web Album which does not have a transfer limit but a storage limit of 250 mb.

After reading Ionut’s post regarding upload pictures from Picasa to Flickr, i got an inspiration and thought for a while that uploading photos from picasa to flickr via mail would make my work easier. So to try out that method, i just selected a photo and clicked the email button then by entering my flickr email address i successfully sent the mail. Now i navigated to my flickr photos list and i could the photo which i sent by mail.

Ok that method works cool but wonder why i am posting about it ? Yeah see the title “Upload photos to flickr even after upload limit” hmmm see i told you my upload limit is over but i could see still able to upload my pics via email to flickr. i sent 7 pics after my upload limit got over and still able to send pics to flickr.

I wonder, did Picasa resize you pics before uploading them to Flickr? That could be one reason why you were able to do this...

i am even able to send photo via my ordinary gmail account to flickr.... So there seem to be some problem with flickr, i think it actually doesnt count the pics via mail ........

Nice. Hmm I have a theory.

Since the Uploaders available ask for use the Flickr API, I'm guessing Flickr only counts the photos uploaded via it's API and maybe somehow Send via Email doesn't use the API.

One thing that you should be aware of with Flickr (non-pro) is the second limitation. You can only have 200 photos in your photostream. This means that when you login to Flickr or someone visits your photopage they will only see 200 photos. After that the oldest ones start to disappear.

They are not deleted and if you have hotlinked them from another site then that is all fine. But they wont appear on the site which is annoying.

Pro costs $25 a year I think and you get 2 GB a month and unlimited storage which I think is a pretty neat deal.

but sam

if you archive your photos into sets you can even watch all the photos...

>You can only have 200 photos in your photostream.
this is for your index not total storage

Flickr faq says that we do not delete your photos but after 200 it will be hide from the photostream list .

To prevent this you must add photos to certain sets . When you add photos to sets they will remain as it is..... :-)
