Reported Picasa Web Albums drop in SERPs

The number of Picasa Web Albums appearing in Google SERPs appears to have dropped from a reported 30,000+ to around 3300.

In addition, these all get collapsed together, unless you "repeat the search with the omitted results included".

I think this is just an adjustment in the algorithms used in calculating the result counts rather than representing any removal of Albums from the index, but I shall watch closely to see where this figure goes in future.

Let's hope that Google soon introduce a real way to search Picasa Web Albums.

The numbers from the site: search are not reliable.

MSN reports a similar magnitude of results; 2952 as I type this, so I think the 3300 number is believable now (and the 30000 figure was not).
