Nice find pierre. I've tried the page but it doesn't seem to do anything for me? |

For people who have registered in Writely with the same e-mail as in Google account and use the same password migration will be done automatically. |

Excellent. I was able to login using my Gmail address and Google Account password which I hadn't previously registered with Writely. Oddly, it doesn't add the service to my Google Accounts page and unlike other services such as Blogger, Orkut, etc. it doesn't seem to use iframes or "skinned" pages hosted at google.com/accounts. |

So migration is coming? I wonder whether Writely will get Google design or not – I bet yes. |
jilm | 17 years ago # |
Tony: Because you just founded new WRITELY account with @gmail.com address. I tried it too, but when I login by gmail address I haven´t got same document as when I login to my former account. So no migration, just preparation. |

jilm: That would make sense. In fact, I just tried doing the same using another Gmail address but intentionally used an incorrect password. All it's done is setup a new account using those details, so it's not even authenticating with Google Accounts when you do this. Shame. |

<<So migration is coming? I wonder whether Writely will get Google design or not – I bet yes.>>
actually no, writely has repeated repplied to people who have emailed them that they will not be changing the looks anytime soon. and also the recently updated page https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLogin?service=writely has changed to look more like the writely site instead of changing the writely site too look more like google. although they aren't going to make any changes immediately, i'm sure they're working on it whether they say it or not. |

They said that to you too (Because that's what they said to me).
Damn, I was counting on a new interface (Despite their comments) |

i'm sure they'll have it, but remember when 2Web Technologies joined google it took them 6-18 months to create google spreadsheets so writely not going to be picture perfect immediately but since it has been around six month (right?) at least they're migrating to google accounts now and hopefully in the next few months will have a clean, simple, interface like google spreadsheets, maybe even some sort of integration of the two. I wonder how they could work that out |
Sohil | 17 years ago # |
Yes it took them 6-18 months to create Spreadsheets. But Writely (Upstartle) is more or less a bit more mature compared to 2Web Tech.
I would be really foolish on Google's part not to go for unification of all off its products. |

that's why I'm sure that they will-- it's just a matter of when. I'm growing quite impatient with the current state of writely so i'm anticipating writely google style too :) I just think it will take a few months, but theres more chance than none that i may be completely wrong |

The new log-in seems to be online and working now. As suggested here, it still looks like Writely.

Yes, it's working now, and you can sign in with any of your Google accounts. |

yeah and other than that nothing at all has changed. I expected at least some of the stuff to be different. |

and it also shows up on the google accounts page https://www.google.com/accounts/ManageAccount and all of these links now are working https://www.google.com/accounts/NewAccount?service=writely https://www.google.com/accounts/EditUserServiceData?service=writely https://www.google.com/accounts/Login?service=writely https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLogin?service=writely |

BTW, they're also offering a way to move all your documents from another account to your new account:
