"Stan Lee" has a current TV show – but "David Bowie"?

The second number behind the "hits per day" is actually very important, it refers to the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confidence_interval.

I don't know how I feel about Lincoln Park being ahead of Hitler... I don't like either of them, but I would hope people would be looking at the more historical of the two articles.

17000 ± 94% 0.0724% 8. Linkin Park
14000 ± 103% 0.0596% 15. Adolf Hitler

There is no way (currently, for us) telling which one is being accessed more often. The figures are currently little more than educated guesses.

Lots more stats here:

and charts here (English version).

Some growth in terms of number of articles. Perhaps that's why Jimmy Wales recently spoke at Wikimania about quality of articles vs. quantity

Also, of note
the USPTO will not allow the Wikipedia to be used when patent examiners are reviewing a claim. See:

Attucally for the "german wiki" I would like to see a chart on the number of edits that have taken place per page. I think that's more important then pg visits per day . After all the German Wiki is conducting a new experiment, which transprancy would be good for those efforts.

You can find full dumps of Wikimedia content at download.wikimedia.org. Feel free to use the content for any research you like. If you produce something, feel also free to share the information. Dumps at this site will be updated every few weeks, usually faster. Erik Zachte has already edits per article-stats online.

Good point on that "number of edits per day"... if this could be colorcoded into the main display then this could give readers a quick idea of the volatility and controversy within a page's contents.

David Bowie is absolutely amazing, so it's a good think he's on this list as far as I'm concerned.
