Anyone here heard of or used/tested Browzar? (http://www.browzar.com/index.html).
BBC News carried an article yesterday at http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/5305250.stm
At a 264K downlaod, it seems to good to be true! |
This isn't real browser. This program uses Internet Explorer engine (and has all it's security problems!) and adds functionality that you can easily set in other browsers like Firefox and Opera.

So using "Browzar" you still uses Internet Explorer, with it's poor standards support and security risks, but with additional adware. Please! Even I can make such "browser". |
tryed it, don't like it. Firefox 2.0 (beta 2) is better, even if there is web history, cookies, auto-complete stuff and other "secret" information on there. |
I dont get the point in it, even it it was legit. Everything can be disabled in Firefox with the help of extensions. |
Um.. Can't you do the same stuff but tweaking a few Firefox (or Opera) Prefs ? |
Of course you can. I really don't know why this thing has so much press... I guess they have really good PR department. |
Ya I guess.
"Looks" a lot different than the other shells.
How do they expect to make money ? (Firefox Style?) |
"You’re at a friend’s house and you want to check your email, download Browzar in seconds and protect your privacy."
What happens if you check email with your friends browser ?
And it says that Law enforcement agencies can still track it. Then whats the exact purpose of the browser ? |
It's balls.
It's even at the top of Google News ffs. It's ridiculous. |
Look at the article size on Wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Browzar |
Everyone of those search results (Ads) is by overture.
Doesn't even do what it claims to.
Pretty pathetic.

I would prefer firefox....:) |
You can actually set Firefox to erase all the privacy info when your close it. Tools -> Options -> Privacy -> Unchecked "Always clear my private data when I close Firefox", and click on "Settings" to configure what you want to erase. |
