I'm not sure what the problem is, but I was able to access a preview of "Tropic of Cancer" ok.

Hmm, that one works here too. Most of the rest doesn't. For example, this is what I see for "To Kill a Mockingbird":

Search URL:

Same happens for me here int the UK.

Mix of results – directions to libraries fro the ones you mentioned, preview for Tropic of Cancer and nothing at all for the Satanic Verses...

I get the same results – seems a bit pointless really to announce with a big fanfare (on thier blog at least) a list of books that have been banned?

I was expecting links to the first page of the scanned book or at least something that may have some interest to me. Instead I can find where I can get it out from... I suppose that's one of the main reasons for 'Book Search' anyway.

At least here in the U.S., many of the books are available for full image and text (searchable, limits of course), via Amazon's Search Inside the Book program. I have several examples, again based on a US IP. I also point out several services like NetLibrary and ebrary that offer many books about these books, free.

I'm not sure if ebrary is available outside the U.S. but they offer FREE (you do need to put money on deposit, $5 min. if you want to print a page for 25cents. Aside from that the full text (unlimited is free).

Also, news that the World eBook Fair will again be online (totally free) beginning in about two weeks. Full Text access to more than 300,000 books.
