I made the mistake of installing Outlook (since fixed) but now I can't use the "Send to" option to srat up Gmail when I want to mail files from the desktop. Can anyone tell me how to restore this behaviour?

I'm talking about right-clicking on a file and choosing "send to" menu option.

I think you need to get the Gmail Notifier, and then enable the option somewhere in the preferences.

naah, there's no preference.

I've never been able to have Gmail as the default. Funny.

There definately is a preference. I am not sure exactly where it is.

that only works for inside a browser with a mailto link. unfortunately since gmail isn't an email client you cant configure windows to open up gmail in your browser for email. you could g for thunderbird though.

also, you don't need the gmail notifier to set gmail as the default mailto link-- you can use the google toolbar. i personally don't like the gmail notifier because i use gtalk.
