Wow Google has gotten pretty aggressive about pushing their products.

not seen here ..used the .com or .ca zones |
I see it in the US "Try Google Talk: free calls, IM and voicemail from your PC." |

They've obviously come to terms with the fact that their products are way too hidden. |
just looking back.. at the ad strategy of Google.. do they actually create ad campaigns for their products ??
I can't recall any of their products even an ad on TV ...unlike Y!, msft. oracle , sap , IBM etc.. etc |
they should've promoted this before you could use any email account :(but I can see why the didn't |
I think you're right, usually they don't create ad campaigns (outside of AdWords, that is). I remember they did have some promotional ads for Checkout and Google for university students, but those are often simple product presentations. At other times, they advertise working at Google*... like the one-page ad in Wired featuring Niniane Wang. They did start to do more product tie-ins though, which can serve as ad campaigns – like the Nike team up** or movie tie-ins***. I guess their biggest free advertising is still word-of-mouth (like the Gmail hype) or product usage (like Google Earth being used on CNN with a little note showing the Google brand...).

Ok correct me if I am wrong on this thesis.. Googles Ad ploy is always a word of mouth strategy ..with the small thin slicing of ads which promote google as a work place etc.
Joga imho is just a tieup with branding ..its not a complete ad campign..!!
This is interesting.. that google has not marketed itself from the time if inception..!! |
