Okay, help me out 'cause I'm feeling dense. I get the cat / dog joke, but I what's the cat / more joke, and what do either have to do with Linux?

He didn't invent them. Those are Unix commands. Linus made a Linux kernel, but the utilities were already there. Things like Bash are older than Linux.
