Not surprising, "HulkDIGG" thought this was pretty nifty – http://digg.com/gaming_news/Amazing_collection_of_comic_book_covers

Nice. You folks should definitely add the ultimate comic covers of all: "Asterix and Obelix". (See wiki entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asterix)
Those comic covers are delicious and span multiple languages.
Check this site for in-depth "cover-age" : http://www.asterix-international.de/asterix/covers.shtml
Cheers, uma |
Hmmm...
I look for Dilbert and Peanuts ...and ... surprize!
NOTHING.
Maybe i understood wrong. :(
Regards! |
Peanuts and Dilbert are more known for appearing in newspapers (without cover) than in numbered issues (with cover), that's why they probably don't fit... though it might be possible to include some trade paperback collections. |
Glad to see it's been officially released! :-) |
I really love it, but what's about the use limitation of yahoo and google apis? (number of daily queries)
nothing to have with this, but i noticied this news: http://www.google.com/intl/en/press/pressrel/google_sonybmg.html
Isnt' it about youtube purchase? |
I once begged the Yahoo API team to give me more queries and they were nice enough to do so (same for the Google API team). But I still hit on a query limit with Yahoo and then interestingly enough I just switched my IP (my ISP gives me a dynamic IP, so I just hit the reboot button), and the limitation was gone again... |
Do you know about the Grand Comics Database at www.comics.org? |
hey philip,
in the about page of cover story you got a type error
>All other content has a Creatice Commons license.
Instead of Creative you've written creatice.... correct it.... |
I wasn't able to reach comics.org right now but will try later.
And thanks Sankar for noting the typo... |
What a pitty that the most famous Comic from East Germany has no place there. It was named Mosaik. The heroes were named Digedags, three little boys travelling all over the world. The latest homepage is under http://www.digedags.de/ , see also the Wikipedia entry to the creator of the Digedags Hannes Hegen: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hannes_Hegen. BTW also Fix and Fax i find very pretty. :-) http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fix_und_Fax http://www.ddr-comics.de/fix.htm
greetings, Thomas |
Take a look to www.encycloBD.com. More thant 100.000 French and Dutch titles but will soon cover other countries. French mangas and US Comics are also referenced. Best |
I also want to add German comics in the future Thomas... the only limitations are time, and whether or not I can scan or find covers using the Yahoo API approach. |
I've got some of the Action Comics issues that are missing from your site... do you want me to scan them for you? |
Yeah Dan that would be neat! Please note that I added many more Action Comics issues in the meantime, so please check if they're still not on the site. If you scan them, just put them in a folder named "action-comics" and name them "101.jpg", "102.jpg" and so on in a good quality, I'll do the rest... philipp.lenssen gmail.com |
