if this thread came up again, something strange has occurred..
the Google Team has sent me an email referring my problem ;
<< Hello,
It was brought to our attention that you're experiencing a problem with Google Talk regarding the ability to email friends and receive new mail notifications. >> and the email continues on how to handle the problem
thing is.. i dont recall sending them an email about my problem.. they might be reading Google Blogoscoped? :P |

I think they might have just been subscribed to a Google Talk search on Google Blogsearch. These forum threads are included in blogsearch results because they have rss feeds. |

people actually USE Google Talk? LOL. When will AIM integrate with it? |
John Marshall | 17 years ago # |
Google Talk is my favorite IM client. It just doesn't have the big user base like the other 3.
An AIM integration would help it so much though. |

Google Talk is a very cool software.. and im not saying that because it belongs to Google.. you have clean and smooth IMing, email notifications, voice mail messages, you can use it via your own Gmail account.. of course its not like Windows Messenger for example.. but it has some features Messenger and others just doesnt have at the moment.. |

I just wish it would talk to Windows Messenger.

Resize the window will add/remove buttons.
Btw, I use google talk exclusively. I even talk to a few msn-friends via google talk. Great tool.

<< Resize the window will add/remove buttons. >> i use the same size all the time.. and some times some buttons are missing, and some time its not :/
<< I even talk to a few msn-friends via google talk >> really? how? |

Google is your friend: http://www.google.com/search?btnI&q=google+talk+msn |

"Google is your friend: google.com/search?btnI&q=g ..."
OK, how about I wish I could talk to MSN Messenger without signing up for another account and registering all my info with a company I have not heard of. :)

Yes you can, you could install a gateway yourself. Just create a jabber server and add the gateways to your server.
Personally I am still hoping Google will add the gateways to their own server. But it would even be better when Microsoft would add a jabber-gateway to their servers. They would do that if they really cared for open standards.
