Now here's a fun game. You are shown the results and not the query and you have to guess what it was. |
Did ya know that's my site? :) |
Just like this: http://gwigle.varten.net/ |

hahaha yeah I actually found it from http://outer-court.com/ I just had forgotten-- anyways, cool games! They're addicting |
I remembered playing it a while ago and then forgot where it was. Thanks for posting it up again....And awesome game, Philip! |
Heh – I guessed correctly, then got the "Continue" screen. I clicked the video playback arrow, thinking it was somehow part of the game. But it wasn't – it was a video Ad. |
I just checked again and it doesn't say "Ads by Google" or anything similar. No indication that it's an ad. |

Huh? Weird. This is a normal, anything goes AdSense, which is usually disclaimed with "Ads by Google". Even the video ads (which I never saw on any of my sites, but Sam sent me a screenshot) usually show an "Ads by Google" in the bottom right, albeit less noticeable. Do you have a screenshot please Roger?

Here's what I saw: http://roger.browne.googlepages.com/video-ad.png/video-ad-full.jpg
It played the same "Jackass 2" ad that you showed in your screenshot, but wasn't able to see the first frame as a static image.
It may be relevant that I am using Flash Player 7 (the latest non-beta flash player for Linux). |
Thanks. This sucks. I wonder if this problem is connected to the large rectangle ad specifically. I'll contact AdSense support. Of course I could disclaim the ads myself but then it would be redundant on 90% of the ads... it would say "ads" twice! I did include a small "advertisement" below now though in the meantime. |
Roger: the omitted disclosure is a bug, not a feature, Google tells me... they're looking into it. |
I have checked with the latest beta of Flash 9 for Linux, and the disclosure does appear. It looks pretty much like Sam's screenshot.
But for now, Flash 7 is still the latest official Linux version. |
The other interesting thing for me about the screenshot (my one) is the little x in the top right hand corner. You can banish the ad with a single click.
I am *pretty sure* that it is built in functionality by Google and not some extension I am using. |
I don't get the little x, but if I hover my mouse over that corner the tooltip says "close". |
