Is Firefox/Google Spying on Your News Feeds?

Let's slice this one with Occam's Razor. They didn't include the icon as they do with the other icons because then Firefox would not be able to be distributed on popular linux distributions. Google's logo is not free. The Debian folks think the Firefox logos are not free either, but that's another issue.
So, they decided to grab the icon from Google's servers. In the process they perform a /standards compliant GET/. They set a cookie so that you do not download the icon unnecessarily, not because they are spying on you.
Nothing to see here, move along! |
and In the process, Google sets a cookie and what not.. :)-

Pragmatically, all I am saying is that whatever data Google could garner from this is pales in comparison to the data they already have. Also keep in mind that Google has anti-spyware software principles [1]. I sent an e-mail to the address on the page, although I doubt they will reply...
