They've added a start page.
The start page – A central place for your users to preview their inboxes and calendars, access your essential content, and search the web. |

I know.. I don't see it yet either... |

Isn't this what Garret discovered was coming back in August?

Anybody tried it out yet? My domains doesn't seem to have it yet. Does anybody has some url's? |
Art-One | 17 years ago # |
Well one of my domains is released by now it seems.
The url is: http://www.google.com/a/psp/[yourdomainname]/main
But first you have to add the new services to your running services...
|

Not sure how new all this is but I see that you can now customize the addresses where you access your email and calendar to be subdomains of your domain (by using CNAMEs). And it seems you can also add a domain alias for email addresses too (found under Domain settings).
(BTW, I've got my Control Panel set to "Next generation" but I can't see any options for personalized start pages yet...) |

And then I get an error ;-)
<< Service not available
This service is not enabled for ... . If you believe this is an error, please contact your domain administrator or try again with the following link.
... >>
Message received just after I added the service... |

Tony, indeed the url customisations seems to be new for me too... |
Art-One | 17 years ago # |
BTW the icon for the 'Start Page' is https://www.google.com/accounts/hosted/mini_psp.gif
And this is the text on the customization wizard just before the error occurs:
<< Start Page Let your users customize their start page by adding content that's relevant to them.
Customize start page ยป
* Start page allows your users to get Google content all in one place. Users can customize this page by adding content and changing colors to suit their taste. * As an administrator, you can select the default content, change the color and add your fancy logo to this start page. * If you prefer, you can lock down certain content that you don't want your users to remove. * Once published, you may sign up for AdSense for search to earn money from your start page. >>
Mention the AdSense phrase, so Google is starting to monetize Google for Applications. (Which was suspected I suppose...) |

Now I have it for both my domain names, and it's working fine!
We should have a little more patience when Google is rolling out stuff ;-) |
Philipp Lenssen | 17 years ago # |
How can I create one? I've logged into the Apps settings but can't seem to find this... |
Sam Davyson | 17 years ago # |
Philipp I had to enable the web pages thing before I could really get it to work. Then it worked like a charm.
Mine is up at http://partnerpage.google.com/davyson.com |

Thanks for the link Sam. If i'm to be honest, the design of them isn't a patch on the standard IG. |
Jonathan | 17 years ago # |
I can't change my CNAME due to using Cpanel on my host. Unless someone has a workaround for Cpanel. |
Art-One | 17 years ago # |
Philipp, did you manage by know? Can we help? |
Philipp Lenssen | 17 years ago # |
Well, I activated the web pages feature but still see nothing. I wanted to get this to work: http://partnerpage.google.com/outer-court.com |
Reto Meier | 17 years ago # |
Philipp: Three questions for you that might help.
1) Have you added the 'Start Page' service? If not, you need to add it via the 'Add and remove services' link on the 'Dashboard' tab.
2) When you click 'Domain Settings', if you scroll to the very bottom does it show 'Control panel' and does that say 'Next Generation'?
3) Is you language set to US English? |
Philipp Lenssen | 17 years ago # |
Weird, it's there now – I visited the add services page several times and think it wasn't there before. Thanks! |
Wouter Schut | 17 years ago # |
Google should allow you to use the Google-login for your own services.... *-) |

The bookmarks gadget also works, but the normal Google Bookmarks gadget retrieves it's bookmarks from http://www.google.com/bookmarks/ (with the label 'homepage'). So, where does this gadget get it's information from? Is every Google Service already built to allow usage from Google Apps? Very interesting. |
Jonathan | 17 years ago # |
I don't have the startpage service in my Add or Remove Services. |
Kirby Witmer | 17 years ago # |
has anybody seen where you can do the adsense thing? |
Hatem | 17 years ago # |
I'm trying to find a way to personalized but no way! The design is ugly compared to Google Personalized Homepage.
http://partnerpage.google.com/phpmagazine.net
I tryed to add css and some html but didn't work. Even adding favicon won't work. Probably CSS have to be embedded in html to get it work.
Anybody succeeded make it looks not ugly ?! |

Can you change the CNAME so your Start Page would be at start.mydomain.com but still keep www.mydomain.com on my other host? |
Ionut Alex. Chitu | 17 years ago # |
This looks nice: http://www.google.com/ig/dell |
Hatem | 17 years ago # |
Ionut Dell page date from February 2006 and it's a partnership with Google, so it's very different I think that Google Apps For Your Domain (GAFYD ?)

Ionut Alex. Chitu | 17 years ago # |
