And it's MOBILE, not cellphone :) |
What do US-people call "that thing" lately? I figured Germans = handy, UK = mobile phone, US = cell phone, but maybe things changed!
And here's my phone, it's a love/hate relationship because as a mere phone, it's quite unusable, whereas it's good to take notes (and not bad to access Google/ Gmail):

A Sagem MyX-5, cant find a shop photo that was the same as mine so I posted it here [ http://picasaweb.google.com/mrrix32/OtherPictures/photo#5002099378854625298] Hopefully getting a new phone at Christmas :-) |
You can call me "Roger Luddite Browne", because I've never yet owned a mobile phone. Had a pager back in the early 80's though.
I'll need to get a mobile phone next year though, because my kids will be getting them. Nevertheless it will be optimised for mobile web browsing rather than voice calls.
As to what they're called – in the UK nowadays they are often just called "phones". The "mobile/cell" aspect is no longer unusual enough to be worth mentioning every time. Kind of like when our ancestors dropped the word "Horseless" from "Horseless Carriage". |
Mrrix32 – i think you should wait 'till Nokia N95 is out.. definitely worth purchasing!! ;

I hear them referred to as Cell Phones here in the US.

I do not have (yet) a mobile ;-) Yes, it's me :-P BTW, in French, we call that a "portable" or, less often, a "mobile phone". ;) |
In UK it's Mobile Phone, Mobile or Phone. The current "must-have" features are cameras and Blue-tooth. (I have neither) |
I find it funny how some people prioritize phones over real conversations. E.g. you're in a conversation, someone calls, they interrupt the conversation and take the call. Or when I'm waiting at my doc's line, no matter how long the line she'll always pick up the phone, which can add minutes of delay. Wrong priority in the queue I think... I'd rather mute the phone. We survived without instant access everywhere for a couple of thousand of years, we'll be able to survive without it the next years too :) |
I agree with Philipp.."I'd rather mute the phone." – tis very rude to pick up your call, when you are in a real face2face conversation..
Anyhoot, this is what I have.. synced with bluetooth earpiece for calls :)-
