Not good. You should be able to search using those links, not just go to the homepage of, let's say, Google Calendar.

Hey, I still find it useful. It's great for those occasions when I happen to be on the Google homepage and I want to get to a specific service, such as Gmail, without typing it into the address bar or going to my bookmarks. That happens more often than you might think.

Then just type it into the search box and press "I'm feeling lucky". That's why it's there for.
