I might be late, but I think google are adding a feature that allows advertisers to choose their respective position like yahoo overture use to have.

choose top 1 to top 10 ? anyone else has seen this feature.

yeah, i think its been there a while now, although it doesnt guarantee you the position. It tries to put you in that place, but if not, your ad does not show at all.
It much easier for someone who doesnt have time to adjust bids freqently, but its still much more efficient to do it the old fashioned way ;)
