So I have the newest toolbar, and the Gmail button was on there. I fiddled with the buttons, unchecked the Gmail icon and then put it back; and I noticed that now, first time ever, sometimes the icon looks like this:

This of course signals there's a new email; yet when I click on it, there isn't. This is in IE6. |
Maybe it's the other way around? Not sure if that makes sense.
Maybe you have messages that are old but are marked as unread? |
when you put the cursor on it says 'you have new gmail.' but the inbox is empty and no msg is there. my inbox is always clean- i read em and delete or archive. |
I've found that sometimes it caches the XML file that tells it there's new mail. Closing the browser and / or clicking the drop down arrow next to it usually refreshes it. |
