maybe this also isn't new but I haven't seen ist before...
google maps has a redesigned directions design and you can have multi point directions.. haven't found anything on blogoscoped about it.. |
I just noticed this one too. It was not there on Wednesday and was there today (Thursday) so it must be new. |
Like the way you can change the order of destinations. The X buttons don't seem to delete the destination though. It says "drive" on the directions, is it possible they are integrating Transit (or whatever it was) in to it? |
Wow! It is super slick. You can drag and drop the stop off points to build your journey. The syntax is like this:
You just list all the midpoints with the prefix "to:" and in the order you want to go to them.
e.g. [ from:london to:paris to:berlin to:madrid] http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=from:london+to:paris+to:berlin+to:madrid
Kind of understandably huge trips like above take quite a long time to work out. |
Dosn't seem to know the difference between "driving" and being on a ferry. [http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=from:Newhaven+to:dieppe&sll=50.362075,0.572955&sspn=1.489253,3.735352&ie=UTF8&z=8&om=1] Either that, or you get extremely wet. |
oh man, ive been waiting for this feature for so long... i'm trying to find some more 'official' statement of the new features but it seems google is slowly updating things... the help pages are still don't explain the multi-points features yet... http://maps.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=27586&topic=1467
the features i've noticed recently: 1. add multiple destinations to one trip 2. collapse directions
anything else to add? |
i found another feature..
the features i've noticed recently: 1. add multiple destinations to one trip 2. collapse directions 3. hide the panel on the left (similar to yahoo maps), so you have the full screen for the map using the small triangle
now that i think about it, it seems google maps is playing catchup with yahoo maps... i can see them adding traffic data to the maps next |
