So that's 2.8gb for free or 4gb for $20 per year. I know which I'd choose

I think Stephen was referring to Gmail vs. Live Mail Plus.

Size isn't everything though. Is it?

No. It isn't everything. But it is very important.

I don't know who is going to pay for Hotmail. You would have to be quite silly. Does it still attach tag lines on the end of your emails?

[put at-character here] Sam, they all (Yahoo) do.

:)

The free version writes silly ads at the end of the mail.

Oh, BTW, do you know how Hotmail became popular before being bought by Microsoft? They promoted their service at the end of each message.

From TFA:

Yes, I was referring to Gmail with my 2.8gb comment.

Still, 20MB attachments are still low given that you have 4GB of storage

Someone had to ask this.

Ok, so Google releases Gmail Extra Edition with 10GB and 100MB attachments. Who can receive such a big attachments (except for other Gmail Extra Edition users)?

Ionut, Almost every (big player) one offers around 1 Gig, So I doubt it would be a problem.

Then again, Who would have 100 MB of stuff to send ?

I do. I have around 250 MBs of PDF articles from a conference. Anyway, Gmail uploads files too slow – so waiting for uploading 100 MB is more unpleasant than waiting for Godot.

Windows Live Mail is horrible. 4GB of junk, is still 4GB of junk.

Size is a lot... As my usage % is growing faster than the amount of space is growing, there will come a painfull day that I have to start cleaning up my mailbox....

(Google could start to unduplicate forwarded attachments e.g., that would already cleanup my mailbox a lot ;-)).

Anyway speed is even more... I'll launch a new thread in the forum in a couple of minutes (seconds maybe) to test that out... Please join the thread :P
