Watch, I bet we will see miniAds soon. And if you put gadgets on your site, there may be some kind of Adsense for Gadgets.

there needs to be some sort of mini ads.

I get about 15 or so emails daily asking me when i'm bringing back one of my gadgets, and the answer is not until I find a way to pay for the bandwith it uses. (I can't host at google cuz it needs to connect to my server's DB)

I think that's why many people use the gadget as ad itself – a general promotion for their website.

IMO that's one of the big problems with user generated content at Google (Gadget and Coop), as there's no revenue stream a lot of people are using them as advertising to drive traffic to their sites rather than to provide useful standalone information.
