I agree with you and the people at Slashdot but also ponder that maybe a flat "unrevealing" list of partecipants may have been a bit impractical.

Rhizome.org has used random order for sites when doing online juried commissions. It seemed to have worked out. I think the top movers thingy CMS just added might help but now that it had been "slashdotted", its a bit late.

Ahhhh.... it may be a bit unfair, but I think the winner will have more hits spread via 'passing around links' and blog references. Most people will not even see the contest site. Have you seen my site?

Almost every blog links to the Showdown-site as well as his favorite entry... so I think yes, they are very well-know and a lot of people click on the first few results. It's good to see they changed it a bit by showing the fastest movers. |
