I explained her how to fix this. From my mail:
Me:
Append &strip=1 at the end of the cache URL, like this: http://64.233.183.104/search?q=cache:www.mentaldischarge.com&strip=1
More about your problem: http://googlesystem.blogspot.com/2007/01/browsing-web-using-google-cache.html where I link to some scripts that let you browse the site from Google Cache.
Kat:
That wouldn't fix my problem, as I can't type in the address bar or click on anything when the login window is open. When I close it, it comes back up much too fast to do anything in the meantime.
Me: Install this Greasemonkey script in Firefox: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/6637
you'll get a new link called "Text" in the search results pages. |
Google only caches the text, images/JS/objects are loaded from their original locations.
Also, it's unfair to say: "Google cache locks browser", because if you press esc for 5-6 seconds the authentication dialog goes away. |
> Also, it's unfair to say: "Google cache locks > browser", because if you press esc for 5-6 > seconds the authentication dialog goes away.
Yes, and that's why I didn't say "Google cache locks browser", but "Google cache locks browser (almost)". |
The same effect for Yahoo cache, MSN cache. |
works fine for me and doesn't lock up my browser.. |
The point is, I shouldn't have to use a Greasemonkey script or append something to the URL to stop it. Google's cache should either stop the dialog after so many tries, or else find a way to give me the 403 Forbidden page. |
Oh, and thank you, holding down Escape fixed it... I'll keep that in mind for the future. :) |
