It's posts like this that make me hover over the unsubscribe to RSS button – can we keep the quality up? |
Ben managed to express that so politely.. |
Didn't mean to come across impolite – It's just sometimes the appeal of the posts wanders off to the very niche in an otherwise excellent blog |
Ben, I appreciate your criticism. On a side-note, if you come across interesting Google stories, please tip me off at infoouter-court.com. |
This is actually an interesting story that highlights how aggregating data from online third parties may be more efficient than collecting the data by leg work – but at the same time is more prone to errors.

Oh for god's sake, what has Martin Luther King every done for us! |
FWIW: I thought it was an interesting post for the same reasons that Dan said..
I also used to live in Seattle so I know those streets. And on a related note, I see that they have MLK Blvd. correctly labeled in Denver, Colorado – http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=stapleton+airport+denver+colorado&ie=UTF8&z=14&ll=39.762301,-104.933939&spn=0.049682,0.080338&om=1 |
This isn't the only thing that has been reverted in that area. If you look nearby, it lists a building as the Pacific Medical Center:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=seattle,+wa&ie=UTF8&z=17&ll=47.592794,-122.315995&spn=0.00505,0.01119&om=1
However, that building is now owned and occupied by Amazon.com. Older versions of Google Maps showed the correct label. Why does Google hate Amazon.com? Is Google trying to teach Amazon a lesson after they launched A9??!!11eleventyone11cos(0) |
