Possibly – It is a combination of Trustrank and bad Link neighborhoods and similarity of anchor backlinks...

No more [miserable failure] :(
My teacher used that as an example in class the other day (I can't remember why he was using Google, but he typed it in and searched for it (returning the white house website). However, he didn't say anything while doing it). |
54 ways of having fun with Google. |
Yep Bush's "miserable failure" has been removed.
Thank You |
I find the wording of the Google Webmaster Central blog post quite revealing:
> When we're faced with a bad search result or a > relevance problem, our first instinct is to look for > an automatic way to solve the problem instead > of trying to fix a particular search by hand.
That's their first instinct. And their second instinct is .......?
I'm seeing more and more tacit admissions that Google considers "fixing by hand" to be increasingly acceptable and expedient. The Googlebomb post COULD have said this, if they'd wanted to:
> When we're faced with a bad search result or a > relevance problem, we always work to develop > an automatic way to solve the problem. We never > attempt to fix a particular search by hand because > it won't scale and it would just create other anomalies.

> And their second instinct is .......?
"WTF, let's change this manually!"
