FYI – On the http://www.google.co.uk home page today, beneath the search box:
<< Friends and family can now collaborate on Google Groups websites. >>
I think it's a bit odd of Google to try and target "friends and family" to use Google Groups. Surely they'd be better off targets "clubs and organizations" instead – i.e. people who might actually need to collaborate on something. |
Mom, dad, let's make a Google Group :) |
lol..
how come Google UK usually gets those promotions, and not Google.com? |
Brits are special. But Google.com usually has much more promotions. |
So Google removes Groups from the main links on Google.com (stuffing it in the "more" box), but it keeps them on Google UK and also puts up special promotions.
By the way, same promotion in Germany today:
"Für Freunde und Familie: Teamwork mit Google Groups." http://www.google.de
It's a silly translation: the English word "teamwork" in German language brings connotations of professionalism/ business. Families are rarely businesses. |
Also on Google US: http://www.google.com/webhp?gl=us Friends and family can now collaborate on Google Groups websites.
http://google.fr Echangez avec vos amis et votre famille grâce à Google Groupes.
http://google.it Comunica con amici e parenti grazie a Google Gruppi.
http://www.google.es/ Con Grupos de Google, familia y amigos también pueden colaborar. |

Google is featuring a link to it's Google Groups service. This comes right after Google Groups came out of beta with a surprising amount of new features. There is no HTML code allowed in the GB forums so you'll have to see for yourself or if they remove it a screenshot of it is at:
