Just to point you that you can access external POP3 accounts from Gmail, it's not enabled for everybody but here is screenshots for those who didn't have it yet :

Errr, do you mean this? [ http://blogoscoped.com/archive/2006-12-09-n19.html] And as far as I'm aware it was available to every one since Gmail registration was opened up.

I am not 100% sure about how open it is to everyone. I have it on all my accounts but it isn't on any of the Google Apps for your Domain accounts. Not sure if it ever will be.

I had it on my Gmail account in the first few days of December and started to use it, then it disappeared. Still hasn't come back. Mighty annoying, that.

Roger – sorry if this is a stupid question – but is your Gmail interface language set to English (US)? (You probably already know that these features are often only released for the English (US) versions but I just thought I'd check...)

Yay! Thankyou Tony.

I always keep Google set to English (US) even though I'm in the UK, but something must have changed it to English (UK).

It's good to have external POP back again.
