Now Gmail signup is a free-for-all, they are advertising it on the homepage.

More importantly, did we have a sweepstake on when Gmail will come out of BETA yet?

My vote – April 1st this year (although I thought this for the past two years :)

Guessing this page [ https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLogin?service=mail&ltmpl=gabby] is new then. It's the page linked to from the ad. When I click sign up it takes me to the normal sign up page, byt says @Gmail.com after the user name you enter (rather than @googlemail.com as it should do in the UK)

(Although in the end it dosn't matter whether mail is sent to @Gmail.com or @Googlemail.com)

It lets me register from Germany too, but adds @Googlemail.com.

The page has the old Gmail logo on... but was made in 2007.

For those of you who don't know, the ad says

Earlier it said Gmail so they must have changed it for the UK (and Germany I think)

I get a sign in page for gmail, then when i log in, it goes to my google account page

now i get the page you can see in the screenshot and the sign up not link goes to http://mail.google.com/mail/signup?co=en&pc=hppooi
