I think the longest is actually a town in Norway or something. |
The longest a domain name can be is 63 characters. Google is your friend, you know.

So is Wikipedia, btw:
"Each must start with a letter or number, and then may be made up of letters, numbers, and hyphens, to a maximum of 63 characters."

Of course, there's always http://www.abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzabcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzabcdefghijk.com
- The bonus of this site is that it's a web-based email provider. Register your free email there. |
As noted above, the RFC's limit each component of the domainname to 63 characters, with (I'm fairly certain) a total limit of 255 charts. I don't believe there is any limit to the pathname part of the URL, although my guess is browsers would behave wierd with ridiculous long URL's. |
You still have to think about subdomains guys... like subdomain.yoursite.com. in the 3.14.com site up there ^, the 3 is a subdomain. I'm sure there is a maximum limit on subdomains, due to some header issue or something, not to mention most DNS services probably restrict that too, but that could help to boost your number up over 63. |
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subdomain
"The length of a particular subdomain label is restricted to 63 characters, but the number of subdomain labels in a domain name is arbitrary." |
