I just noticed a little addition to the results page on Google, I am not sure how new this is but it is the first time I have seen it.
Try searching for a Company (ex. Google, Yahoo, etc.) You will notice a little + next to the result and when you press it the financial info for the company is shown.
This is pretty useful as now you don't need to go to the finance homepage to search for a stock quote when you don't know the stock symbol. |
im not seeing it..
can you share a link, or a screenshot please? |
Here are some screenshots of what I am seeing:

im still not seeing it.. with or without Google's SafeSearch.. :/
how about a link ? |
Is this same treatment displayed when searching for the ticker symbol itself (i.e. "GOOG" instead of "google")? I'm wondering if this spells the end of linking to competing finance services, like their current links to Yahoo Finance, MSN , MarketWatch, CNN Money, and Reuters alongside their link to Google Finance. |
Here is a link:

By the way: It seems that this new feature only runs on some of Google's datacenters, which is why some of you can't see it. The above link should resolve this problem.

Good point. It might only be a matter of time before links to competing services are removed from the Finance onebox, after all, this already happened with e.g. the Maps onebox... http://blogoscoped.com/archive/2007-01-16-n66.html
Post updated with MarWi's link! |
Google removes the links to competing services when their own product is good enough. They don't link to other services because they're nice, but because users would miss essential features by using test products from Google. |
Great update..
I used to miss this functionality because a year or so ago, they use to display stock ticker name by the results if you search for a public company name.
Now, it has returned with even much more use. great idea,.. i am all for it. |
There is also a plus box (showing GG map stuff) on the query "revolving" |
