Happy new year! I celebrated with my wife last weekend already because I'm out of town this weekend – it's German carnival too this weekend. We had a hotpot (if that's the right name?). I love this dish. http://www.0817china.com/ly/qinma/images/incp1.gif |

That looks great! I'd love to try that. Was it a Chinese fondue or something? The dish with the divider down the middle looks like something we had when we went to a Chinese fondue restaurant here in Sheffield... |
When do we have Jewish New Year. |
Happy CNY, Israeli FD, German Celebration Thingie and President's Day (Busy season...) to all :)

Wikipedia says it's called "火锅/火鍋" (Huǒguō) in Chinese. Many Chinese restaurants in Germany don't deliver good stuff like in China, but this one some get right! It's like fondue, so you sit with friends and pick some meat or fish or vegetables, and then dunk them in either half of the heated pot. One is spicy, one not (the photo looks different, but it's from some random website). But I never tried the non-spicy one :) And then you have different sauces around the table. It's really good... |
Yeah, that sounds pretty much like what we had once. That was really good. I need to go there again soon I think... |
