it's Purm, a Jewish holiday

Looks more like Goo8re, but I can sort of see that the bit at the bottom left is slightly different to the parts that are meant to be the g. At first sight it does look like an 8 though. You'd have thought they'd learnt after the complaints about the "strawberry stalk L"

Basically, one of the stories we read every year is about how a Jewish community was about to be destroyed by an evil grand vizier, whose plans were eventually turned around by the Sultan's Jewish queen. People celebrate by dressing up...we also read the story out loud in temple and make noise when the evil vizier's name is mentioned. There ya go, an explanation that no one really cared about.
