Google News: Needlessly Ugly

Why is the Google News frontpage so ugly?

The colors are mismatched (maroon, gray, and green and blue links?)

The type is mismatched (the font size of the headlines on the left is bigger than the font sizes of the headlines under "personalize this page")

The entire presentation is clunky and difficult to take in.

The strength of Google news is search. They should redesign the page with a focus on makng it easy to search for news.

I only use Google News for searching, so I ignore the frontpage. I suppose there are others who read it...

Hmmm......Well the other SE's News pages aren't much better http://news.yahoo.com – way to cluttered and too mny links, typical yahoo.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/- bland, too many ads
Ask and live just have a searchbox at their homepages.
