It too has Wikipedia and YouTube (video). |
Yahoo's site is better in some perspectives (pagination, permalinks), but I don't understand why it's a good idea to add sections for YouTube, Flickr and not for other sites. Maybe users should define their own restrictions and put them in the sidebar (Co-op anyone?). |
Update: Yahoo actually does that if you click on "Customize this page". Nice. |
Some big problems with that (cold-looking) site... for example, if you expand and collapse sections of the right-hand boxes, this will be added to the browser search history... and clicking your back button will now "undo" your expand & collapse history instead of going back to the previous search. |
The page feels kind of heavy, too. When expanding the tools, it's not as instant as SearchMash is.
Customization is awesome, though. |

<< Featuring results from Yahoo! Search, Flickr, Answers, and News, the Alpha Beta uses several YUI libraries to do its magic, with a little help from some OpenSearch-friendly sites, such as Wikipedia and YouTube. >>
Smells a bit like http://SearchMash.com to me, especially the way it presents its extra search results on the right hand side of the SERP.
