If they were really globally consistent about this, they'd have the U.S. version in google.us, and redirect google.com accesses from the U.S. there. This would have the advantage (in addition to logical consistency and less perception of bias regarding the U.S. versus other countries) of making it easy to specifically access the U.S. version from anywhere in the world without suffering the redirections you get with google.com. |

In Israel you got http://g.co.il/ (i don't use it by the way). it's also the shorter version of Google.co.il but I don't know if it belongs to Google or not. (if some is willing to check I'll be glad) |
