saying 'Google was down for 7 minutes' is like saying 'the average wealth of myself and Bill Gates is a few billion dollars' – it's a half-lie, and ultimately, meaningless.

if, however, google was actually down for each person for only 7 minutes, then saying, 'Google was down for 7 minutes' makes sense. that is not the case, unfortunately. i would know.
