The lifehacker[1] tip to embed Google Calendar on an active desktop
gave me another twist on that idea:

Google Gadgets on the desktop.

Start with generating the code to embed into a html page (which can
live on your local computer)

this example uses the Google Babes Gadget:

http://gmodules.com/ig/creator?synd=open&url=http%3A//www.r2unit.com/gmodule/babe.xml

Embedding the generated source code, yields a web page:
http://r2unit.com/gmodule/desktop.html

Which you can then follow the same instructions to make that your
Active Desktop. There you have it, a rotating
picture of the moment from the GoogleDex!
This one Jessica Alba!
