I just got an email from Adsense telling me I have to change my adsense login to a Google Account, is this a new thing?

I've been using my Google Account for AdSense since quite some time now... but many of us weren't able to switch that, so I guess they can now... |

I don't have a Google Account for the mail address I use for AdSense. They never forced me to use a Google Account. |
