Youtube and google used to be big sources of online movies and TV shows but then came along daily motion and sites like www.tv-links.co.uk were born :P

I bet the 'claim your content' tool will be a hit if it actually works. The users will be disappointed with the lack of such a wide spread category of videos though. I love being able to find music videos of a lot of my favorite bands. The movie thing isn't that big of a deal to me in terms of searching for them. I don't have the time to sit and watch an entire movie on my computer. But I have no problem taking a 5 minute break and watching something on YouTube/Google Video.

Make it so where any video of length (say 1 hour) has to wait/requires approval of an actual person. Wouldn't that be an easy deterrent for full length movies? I know it will not stop all copyrighted videos, but it's a start. And at least stops the infringement of theater films.

Stephen, That might be one approach, but that requires human interaction. Google loves to scale all of their services and if they can do that without having too much human interaction it saves them money and man power.

when you upload any video in google video, it has to be viewed/validated/approved by google. Sometimes it takes hours to be online. So if google watch it... why wonder about copyright infringement if they have validated the upload?

good point Joah!! how do these movies pass the validation process and get approved for public consumption ? I don't think they have enough manpower and remember these are the desk level support staff who are treated like "2nd class" citizens?).They will need to fulfill a quota everyday.

[put at-character here]Philipp: since you are a pretty good coder, why not create some script that runs through YouTube, grabs all titles, invers them and do a lookup on imdb.com

Sounds like a plan... hehe!

There are a LOT of full-length movies around on YouTube, if you know what to look for. When they introduced the new 10-minute limit, people initially started dividing them up into parts, and "Part x" would be a part of the title, for searching convenience. Then after the lastest Viacom purge, people got smart and started labelling parts as things like P4 or something else. There are a lot of videos on YouTube.

TK points out some more full-length videos:

Titled "saficity" – can't identify the movie, it shows Ewan McGregor, incredibly low-quality, French language

Also (all French):
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6196113413774766371
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5641289699104588614
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3799211280929110905 – this movie is "Hard Candy", I believe.

In this quality, the videos are good for movie research ("what did actor X say?"), while you still would need to buy or rent the original to really view it... almost like fair use (not by popular fair use laws as they're applied, I guess).

MJ Rich, do you have examples?

Philipp: At the moment, I am unable to access YouTube and several other sites, being behind a web censureship program called WebSense, but perhaps this weekend I will find you some links.

And the first movie is The Prestige, a very good movie, albeit a very low quality version.

[put at-character here]Philipp – saficity movie you listed is a movie called 'STAY'.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0371257/

MJ Rich is correct that the first movie you listed under (All French) is 'The Prestige'.

Your second french movie link is "Hard Candy", You have the label next to the wrong movie though in your post. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0424136/

Your last french movie link I can't tell what movie it is. The quality of the video is so bad that I don't recognize any of the actors and since I don't speak french I can't tell what they are talking about.
