Great explanation. I always wondered why they never went with a flash time chart in News Archive, where you could scroll around in the different time periods for specific news results for your query.

Wow, Flash 9 will make my browsers slower to respond (and outright slugish with more than one Flash object) and it will also make my computer's fan turn up from whisper to blow dryer. I do not even like to imagine how bad prior versions of Flash were when Flash 9 is claimed to be so much better.

So I turned the plugin off in my main browser and use a secondary browser for youtube and Co.

Mac Mini G4 1.25GHz, Opera 9 and Firefox 2

With FLEX being OSS'ed , flash now has the leading edge .. I think we will see more of google stuff going the FLASH road.

In our last barcamp, there was the discussion on FLASH vs VML/SVG . I think if you are doing RIA's type of app;s then FLASH is the way to go
