Adsense account merge

Finally when I tried to login to Adsense today it gave me an option to merge my Adsense account with my Google account. I had signed up for Adsense before it was using Google accounts, and the password rules were different for Adsense leading to an annoyance whenever I tried to login to Adsense with my Google Account credentials.

I'm sure Tony will be happy to hear this too: http://blogoscoped.com/forum/92178.html#id92213

The screen it presented me when logging in looked like this:

I thought that when you register for AdSense with your email, it automatically becomes a Google account. (as you can use with other Google services)

This was not the case for those who registered before Google started doing that. At that time I believe they either required a separate password, or had more stringent rules on what your password could be. As far as I know, Ionut and Tony also had this issue, and it's been annoying using the same email address but a different password, so this is a very good change :)

(I don't remember when they eventually switched to using Google accounts.)

Haochi is right, I don't see what Niraj saw but I can now logon Google Account with my AdSense address, that wasn't possible before.

It sure sounds like good news. However, I read this earlier today:

<< If you’ve got an AdWords account, there is a problem. For some reason, AdSense and AdWords cannot be used on the same account, at least at the moment, and that means that if you have an AdWords account linked to your Google Account, you can’t migrate over your AdSense account to that Google Account. >>

But I've not had time to test it, so I can't really comment yet...

Well, it's not asking me to migrate my login yet and I won't bother trying until it does.

>> Haochi is right.

Not entirely. I created an AdSense account using my Gmail address before they migrated AdSense to use Google Accounts. However, I can't login to Adsense using my Gmail address and password and nor can I login to a Google Account using the same email/password combination that I use for AdSense.

They should just let you choose a Google Account to associate with the account like they did with AdWords, Blogger and Writely.
